If your sperm count and quality remain too low in spite of all other factors having been considered, or if you have certain medical conditions or anatomical abnormalities; then assisted reproduction technologies (ART) like In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) may be recommended.
In both IVF and IUI, a semen sample will be obtained (either through surgical sperm aspiration or masturbation), from which the best quality sperms are selected and retrieved under a microscope.
The selected sperm can then be used in IVF during manual fertilisation with the egg, or in IUI where it is injected directly into the woman’s uterus.
